Compensation Fund Bursary Program for South Africans Through 2024: The COID Bursary application is open to eligible Young People who want to pursue an undergraduate degree or a certain post-graduate program, according to the Compensation Fund. Dependents of COID Pensioners and dependents of workers who were fatally injured are urged to apply. Unemployed COID beneficiaries who acquired a permanent disablement owing to occupational injuries or diseases (COID Pensioners), Not in Employment, Education, and Training (NEET), are eligible to apply. The deadline is Tuesday, March 1, 2024.
Targeted students
General Young Persons (17-25 years)
Qualifications Funded – Undergraduate:
Health Professional and related clinical science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Engineering, Statistics & Data Science, Actuarial Accounting/Financial Science,Science, Economics/Econometrics, Math & Science Education, Marine/maritime studies, Quality Control and Environmental Health qualifications.
Post Graduate:
Advanced Diploma/Honours in Accounting Science – Stream: Certificate in The Theory of Accounting (CTA), Chiropractic, Actuarial Science and Medical Orthotist and Prosthetist at all the Republic of South Africa public universities.
Dependents of COID beneficiaries with disabilities (17-35 years) Dependents of fatality injured workers (17-35yrs) and Unemployed COID beneficiaries with disabilities (Working age).
Qualification – Open to study any recognised Qualification offered by the Public University.
The bursary covers
Tuition fees, Book Allowance, Monthly Leaving Allowance and Accommodation (Institution accredited) in alignment with NSFAS/DHET Guidelines. The award is renewable every year – for the duration of the study programme enrolled – depending on the availability of funds and the outstanding academic performance of successful applicants.

- Unemployed South African Citizen
- Annual Combined household income bracket of R600 000 and below /Missing middle (Applicable to General Young Persons only)
- Academically deserving students
- Students registered for specified applicable qualifications
How to apply for Compensation Fund Bursary Scheme 2024 Opportunity:
- Students to obtain an application form from the University Financial Aid Office
- Students are to submit a fully completed application form with certified copies of identity and supporting documents as indicated in the application form
- Applications are to be submitted to the respective University Financial Aid Office on or before the 1st March 2024
