After six weeks, President Tinubu ordered the suspension of all National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA)-managed programs. He also gave the go-ahead for a panel led by Finance Minister Wale Edun to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic on the financial architecture and framework of the social investment programmes in order to definitively reform the relevant institutions and programmes. To date, nothing has been said in response to these directives.
The Nigerian government’s National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) aims to combat poverty, hunger, and inequality by giving disadvantaged groups social and economic support. N-Power, NHGSFP, GEEP, and CCT are its four main programs. It was founded in 2016.
Before the program is suspended, the Npower beneficiaries are due to receive eight months’ worth of backlog payments. The Beneficiaries claim that their current period of financial difficulty has not been easy.
The beneficiaries, however, have urged the president to lift the NSIP program’s suspension and to start up again in Kushun given the suffering that the people there are going through.
