In this day of widespread and inaccurate information, the function of journalists is more crucial than ever. For information and opinion-forming purposes, our societies depend on the fundamental principles of journalism: objectivity and truthfulness. According to One Young World, the next generation of journalists holds the key to bringing about significant and lasting change, as they will supply the necessary tools to guarantee that the right to free speech and the defense of one’s rights are justly maintained in every part of the world.
In 2020, the One Young World Journalist of the Year Award was established with the goal of recognizing and elevating five of the most influential journalists worldwide who are transforming news reporting and contributing to a better world.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Open to journalists between 18-35 years old.
- Journalists making positive impacts through their stories globally.
BENEFIT
Award winners will be invited to the One Young World summit in Montreal, Canada
SELECTION CRITERIA
- The award winners will be chosen by an international panel of judges with first-hand experience in journalism.
- Their decisions will be based on the work the young journalists have carried our in their countries and communities and its benefits and impact on young people.
